In the early 1900's a shoe manufacturer sent a salesman to Africa to expand their market. After a few weeks in the foreign land, the rep sent a telegram to the home office:
"Disaster! Disaster! These people don't wear shoes. Cancel production immediately."

Later that year, a salesman from another shoe manufacturer traveled to the same country, also in hopes of growing the company's client base. Soon their headquarters, too, received a telegram. This one read: "Opportunity! Opportunity! These people don't wear shoes. Triple production immediately."

Releasing Past Hurts

Two Zen monks were walking through a forest when they came upon a woman standing on the bank of a stream that she was unable to cross. After considering her dilemma, one monk picked her up in his arms, carried her across the stream, and placed her gently on the ground. The other monk watched in horror, because the rules of their order forbade touching women. The two monks continued on their way, but the second monk was furious for a long time. Finally he said, "You know that touching a woman is against our principles!" With that, the other monk turned to him and gently said, "I put her down an hour ago. You, however, are still carrying her."

As long as you continue to bring past hurts and anger into the present, you will walk through life with a blurred vision denying yourself opportunities that may bring you a fulfilling and joyful life.

It's Just Nice To Connect

While doing my regular walk today an older gentleman gave me a great big wave and smile as he drove up to the stop sign I was walking by. I didn't wave back because I was too busy trying to figure out where I knew him from since he seemed to know me.

"No, we don't know each other," he said. "I just like to wave to people and send a friendly hello any chance I get. It's just nice to connect." I laughed and said, "I love that! Thank you, you've made my day!" We both continued on our way but not before I gave him a wave and big smile right back at him.

"It's just nice to connect." What a wonderful statement. Especially coming from a complete stranger. It truly lifted my spirits throughout the rest of the walk and even now!

Making an effort to connect to others when we don't know them is something we need to do more of in the world. And when we can do it with the enthusiasm that this gentleman did with me, it can turn someone's yucky day into a better day and someone's good day into a glorious day!

I Don't Want....

I went to see a photography show last weekend and ended up standing in line for an hour to get in. Glad to say it was well worth the wait! Since I was alone, I decided to entertain myself and listen to the various conversations going on around me.

What I heard didn't shock me all that much because it's so common with most people. There are 3 words that were coming out of people's mouths more than any other words; "I don't want."

And I can guarantee they haven't got a clue that just saying those words will bring them exactly what they don't want.

Why?

Because that's the law. You see, the Universe has no favorites. It doesn't read between the lines. It only knows that as you speak you create a vibration and whatever that vibration is, is what it will pick up on and simply go about doing its job of brining back to you a circumstance that matches that vibration.

The words, "I don't want" will create a more negative vibration in you than a positive one. This is exactly how we create the life that exists for us over and over again.

So I simply want to remind you to pay attention to your words and notice how many times you express yourself with the "I don't want" words. When you hear yourself saying that, just switch over to "What I want is..."

The more you talk about what you want and the more you feel great about that want, the higher your vibration and then the Universe can match that vibration which will be much more to your liking.

Dealing With Crisis

About 6 months ago a friend of mine lost his son to cancer. Needless to say it's been an incredibly difficult journey for him and his family. A couple of days ago we were speaking and he shared with me that not only has this experience been overwhelmingly challenging, but he's also found himself burdened by thoughts of certain people he thought he could count on that haven't been there for him through this experience.

When it comes to a crisis, especially one involving an untimely death, it's not unusual for people to be very uncomfortable and not know what to say or do. Although you may wish people would put their own "stuff" aside during your difficult times and simply support you, it just isn't always the case. Those who are closest to you, and hurting because of the pain you are experiencing, can often have the hardest time knowing what to do or say.

Those who barely know you can often step up and support you in ways you never imagined possible. Being less emotionally involved can often make it easier to be there for someone in pain.

So I ask that you remember, should you find yourself experiencing your own personal tragedy, to not hold onto too much expectation with certain people in your life. Don't hold any grudges, that only adds to the pain you're already living with. Trust they will come around with the passing of time and perhaps then you can talk about it more easily.

There are many reasons why people pull back during times like my friend is going through, but what I've come to learn above all else is, it's not because they don't care, it's simply because they care so much, that they're afraid of causing you more pain by doing or saying the wrong thing.

Life Is A Theater

The following was sent to me by one of my wonderful Genie subscribers. It's a powerful reminder how the people you choose to be a part of your life can make all the difference as to the kind of life you have.

Life Is A Theater
Invite your audience carefully. Not everyone is healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize, your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships!

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention. Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage. Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know or appreciate you?

The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of life. You cannot change the people around you...but, you can change the people you are around!

Attitude Is Everything

I received this in my email and I loved it so much I had to share it with you.

ATTITUDE
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she only had one hair on her head.

"Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"YEAH!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"

You Really Are Doing What You Want

Consider the following quote and how it can apply into your life.

"Are you doing what you want right now? If not, why are you doing it? When you stop reading this, will you still be doing what you want? If not, why not? Why do you ever do what you don't want to do? What's your excuse?"

--'I've got to pay the rent.'

"Do you? If you don't want to pay the rent, don't pay it. You're not doing what you want."

--'But if I don't pay I'll be out in the cold.'

"So which do you want to do--pay the rent or be out in the cold? Be honest, straight with yourself. In paying the rent you're doing what you want."

How many times throughout your life do you say to yourself or someone else, "I don't want to but...."

I'm inviting you to take an honest look at the choices you make and when you make a certain choice recognize that's the choice that feels better for you in the moment. Honor it as opposed to feeling bad about it. Don't make it about something you claim you don't really want to do. When the time comes to make a different choice you will, simply because, you choose to do so.

Never A Doubt = Faith

The other day, I was shown, in a silly way, what it means to have real faith and end up with the result you intend.

As I walked toward the automatic sliding doors while leaving the grocery store, I became aware that I was getting closer to the doors than I usually do without them opening. And yet, no matter how close I got, there wasn't a moment of doubt in my mind that the doors wouldn't open for me so I just kept on walking.

Just as I was inches away, the doors opened and I moved on through. When I got to the other side it hit me, in that moment I experienced complete and utter faith that the doors would open. No question, no hesitation, just a knowingness I would make it through. Then I thought to myself. "That's what real faith and trusting in the process is all about."

Now I know this example seems rather insignificant and almost ridiculous in the larger scheme of life, but until we're willing to acknowledge even the smallest moments of faith getting us to the other side of something, our foundation isn't strong enough to hold our faith when we're faced with the bigger moments.

Living A Balanced Life

There's no question in my mind that part of my coaching services assists people in living a balanced life. But when I saw a quote by Brian Tracy recently, it dawned on me that the balance he makes mention of is exactly the balance I work on with clients so they can more easily and effortlessly attract into their life what they desire.

Here's what Brian Tracy said:

"Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance."

In my own words, I simply express ways to assist my clients so they can go faster and farther requiring less energy, by aligning their thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Doing this allows them to masterfully manage their emotions, awaken their Genie within and have the law of attraction work it's magic for them.
